In a recent interview, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, former lead quest designer for The Witcher 3, disclosed CD Projekt Red's initial doubts about successfully integrating a sprawling narrative into an open-world environment.

Tomaszkiewicz noted, "Few games have attempted what we achieved: merging extensive storytelling techniques, typically found in linear RPGs like The Witcher 2, with an open-world experience."
CD Projekt Red initially feared that the narrative's ambition might conflict with the open-world design. However, the team pressed forward, resulting in one of gaming history's most acclaimed RPGs. Tomaszkiewicz now heads Rebel Wolves, currently developing The Blood of Dawnwalker. Set in an alternate medieval Eastern Europe with dark fantasy elements, vampires are central to the game's plot.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. While a release date remains unannounced, a gameplay reveal is anticipated this summer.
