Firaxis Games, the developer behind Civilization VII, has released patch 1.0.1, hot on the heels of the game's full launch. The advanced access period garnered mixed Steam reviews, prompting Firaxis to address several key concerns raised by the community. These concerns primarily centered around the user interface, limited map variety, and a perceived lack of expected features.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, in an interview with IGN, acknowledged the negative press and player feedback surrounding Civilization VII's launch. However, he expressed confidence that the game's core audience would warm to it with continued play, describing the early performance as "very encouraging."
With the game now fully available to all players, Firaxis has deployed Patch 2 (PC/Mac/Linux/Steam Deck), the first in a series of planned updates designed to address player feedback gathered during the advanced access period. The complete patch notes are detailed below.
It's important to note that cross-play multiplayer has been temporarily disabled on PC to streamline the update process. This means PC patches may be released at a different pace than console updates. However, this will not affect cross-play between console players or PC-to-PC multiplayer.
