Concord: A Hero Shooter Roadmap and Gameplay Tips
Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled the post-launch content plan for their upcoming hero shooter, Concord, launching August 23rd on PS5 and PC. This detailed roadmap outlines a future free of battle passes, focusing instead on rewarding gameplay and regular content updates.
No Battle Pass, Meaningful Rewards
Concord eschews the traditional battle pass model. Firewalk Studios prioritizes a robust base game experience, rewarding players for simply playing, leveling up, and completing objectives. Rewards will be substantial without requiring a paid progression system.
Season 1: The Tempest – Arriving in October
Season 1, titled "The Tempest," promises a wealth of new content:
- A new playable Freegunner character.
- A brand-new map.
- Additional Freegunner Variants.
- Expanded cosmetics and rewards.
- Weekly Cinematic Vignettes enriching the Northstar crew's story.
- An in-game store offering purely cosmetic items, with no gameplay impact.
Season 2 and Beyond
Season 2 is already planned for January 2025, signifying Firewalk's commitment to consistent seasonal content drops throughout Concord's first year.
Gameplay Strategies and the Crew Builder
Game director Ryan Ellis offers key gameplay insights, emphasizing Concord's unique "Crew Builder" system. Players assemble teams of five Freegunners, allowing up to three copies of any Variant. This flexibility allows for strategic team composition based on playstyle and match challenges. Combining Freegunners with diverse roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, recoil, cooldowns, and more.
Unlike typical hero shooter roles (Tank, Support), Concord's Freegunners are designed for high DPS and direct combat effectiveness. Six distinct roles—Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden—define their impact on the match, ranging from area control to flanking maneuvers.
