Many Marvel Rivals players on PC experience frustratingly long shader compilation times on launch. This guide offers a workaround to significantly reduce this delay.

Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals

Game launches, especially online titles, often involve a period of loading. However, Marvel Rivals' lengthy shader compilation process—sometimes lasting several minutes—is proving problematic for many.

Shaders are crucial programs managing aspects like color, lighting, and shadows in 3D environments. Incorrect shader installation can lead to various issues. While players may have done everything correctly, a community-discovered solution addresses this persistent problem.

The Solution:

A user on the Marvel Rivals subreddit proposed a fix that involves adjusting Nvidia control panel settings. Follow these steps:

  1. Access your Nvidia Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to the global settings.
  3. Locate the Shader Cache Size setting.
  4. Set the Shader Cache Size to a value less than or equal to your VRAM. Note: Options are limited to 5GB, 10GB, and 100GB; select the closest value to your VRAM.

This method reportedly reduces shader compilation time to mere seconds and eliminates "Out of VRAM memory" errors.

While this workaround proves effective, players may prefer to await an official patch from NetEase. Currently, the developer hasn't addressed the issue publicly. To avoid extended loading times, consider trying this solution.

Marvel Rivals is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
