On February 7, 2025, inZOI game director Hyungjun Kim shared exciting news on Discord about a new Karma system. This system will transform deceased Zois into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.

Despite inZOI's commitment to realism, Kim is excited to introduce a paranormal twist with the Karma system and ghost Zois. He explained, "If a Zoi dies with enough karma points, they move on to the afterlife, but those who don’t make the cut have to remain as ghosts until they restore sufficient karma points." The exact methods to restore these points remain a mystery for now.

Kim stressed the importance of balancing the ghost Zois' playability, stating, "We want to keep the playability of ghosts fairly limited so it doesn’t overshadow the main gameplay, but we also want to make sure the experience is engaging enough when it does happen." In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to special conversations at specific times and under certain conditions.

Looking ahead, Kim expressed his enthusiasm for exploring more fantasy elements, saying, "While we’re committed to refining the realistic elements of inZOI first, I’d love to explore more fantasy-driven elements in the future. Occasionally stepping away from the game's native, ultra-realistic setting could add an extra layer of fun to our simulation of this vast and complex concept we call life!"

Back in August 2024, inZOI's publisher, Krafton Inc., collaborated with content creators to showcase the game. One such partner, MadMorph, provided a sneak peek into the Karma system during his inZOI video.

At the fifteen-minute mark, MadMorph demonstrated a feature called Karma Interactions. This feature allows Zois to perform various actions that can either boost or diminish their Karma points. For example, MadMorph's character engaged in a mischievous act by secretly farting on another Zoi's face, which elicited a reaction from the NPC. On the positive side, options like "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend’s post" were available, though not demonstrated in the video.

While the Early Access version of inZOI, set to launch on Steam on March 28, 2025, will focus on gameplay with living Zois, the Karma Interactions feature promises to have a more significant impact in future updates. Fans eager to explore this innovative system will have less than six weeks to wait before diving into the Early Access experience.
