Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with the game generating $43 million in royalties. The company's 2024 financial report shows a total revenue of $151.4 million, a 30.4% year-over-year increase. This success is largely attributed to Stellar Blade's strong performance, and the company anticipates even greater success with the upcoming PC release, projecting sales to surpass those of the PlayStation 5 version, particularly within the Asian market.
While Stellar Blade has enjoyed significant success, selling over a million copies and receiving a 7/10 rating from IGN (praised for its action gameplay but criticized for its characters, story, and RPG mechanics), Shift Up is already looking towards the future. The studio plans to unveil its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. Although Project Witches isn't the highly anticipated Stellar Blade sequel, Shift Up has confirmed that the possibility of a sequel is under consideration.
Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, puts players in the role of Eve as she fights to reclaim Earth from mysterious invaders. IGN's review noted that while the game excels in its core action gameplay, weak characters, a subpar narrative, and frustrating RPG mechanics held it back from reaching its full potential.
