Bloodmoon Island, shrouded in mystery and located to the north of Reaper's Coast, is isolated by a lethal Deathfog and a destroyed bridge. This isolation makes conventional access to the island challenging, yet exploring Bloodmoon Island is essential for deepening the main plot and unlocking additional side quests in Divinity: Original Sin 2. The game, however, leaves players to decipher how to navigate past the Deathfog, prompting a search across Reaper's Coast for clues. Below, you'll find detailed methods to reach Bloodmoon Island and advance your story.
Spirit Vision Shows The Way
Initially, Bloodmoon Island was connected to Reaper's Coast via a bridge near Cloisterwood, northeast of where you'll find Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the remnants of this bridge, you'll encounter the Driftwood Fields waypoint. Here, casting Spirit Vision reveals the broken sections of the bridge, which is crucial for your journey across.
Navigating the bridge can be tricky due to its segmented and trapped nature, but with the right skills and items, it's manageable:
Gloves of Teleportation: Available from the first act, these gloves allow teleportation without needing the skill, making it possible to move each companion across the bridge, albeit laboriously.
Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat provide the ability to teleport, which is invaluable for crossing the bridge. The challenge lies in ensuring all party members can use these skills.
Teleporter Pyramids: With four pyramids in the game, you can use two to cross the bridge. Place one pyramid in a companion's inventory who can cross using translocation, then warp the rest of the party to their location once they've reached the other side.
Fast Travel: If a companion with translocation skills reaches the other side and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel there, bypassing the bridge altogether.
Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog
For parties including Fane, an additional method exists. As an undead character, Fane is immune to the Deathfog. A pier northwest of Cloisterwood houses an undead ferryman who claims to transport your party safely across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is a deception that leads to the death of all but Fane. If Fane takes the ferry alone, he arrives safely, can discover the island's waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel to him.
Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party
If Fane isn't in your party and you still opt for the ferry, Teleporter Pyramids are your key. Here's how to manage it with at least two pyramids:
- Separate a companion with a pyramid in their inventory and have them take the ferry.
- Upon reaching Bloodmoon Island, they'll die, but the rest of your party can use the second pyramid to warp to their location.
- Revive the fallen companion with a resurrection spell or scroll to continue your adventure.
For parties without Fane, taking the bridge remains the fastest and safest route to Bloodmoon Island.
A word of caution: Avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman, as he can retaliate with a Deathfog spell, causing instant death. If you're determined to confront him, ensure you quick save beforehand. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
