The Last Knight is unlocked after completing Chapter 2 of the main storyline ("What Yesterday Wept, Today Doth Sing"). It's advisable to finish Chapter 2, Act 3 before exploring Rinascita, as many side quests are locked until then.
Starting the Quest
Locate Cosimo in Egla Town, Whisperwind Haven. He's near the first house by the main road, marked by a blue quest marker.
The Night Reveries
This involves a nighttime performance centered around a legendary knight. You must defeat the Mad Knight, appearing between 6 PM and 6 AM, near the town's central pool. This enemy is straightforward to defeat.
Mimic Chests
After defeating the Mad Knight, travel to the tallest tower and then to Carlow's location (quest marker). He's unconscious near a purple flower. Touching the flower transports you to an area with chests. Three chests are genuine; in the next set, only the middle-left chest (second one) is real. Open it for Astrites and other rewards, then fight off the attacking mimic chests.
Following the Knight's Trail
Next, visit two locations connected to the legendary knight (follow quest markers and interact with NPCs).
Abby will mention a strange smell. Follow the marker uphill to encounter a unique Chop Chop with invulnerable Leftless and Rightless. A Questless Knight Echo is recommended for parrying and stunning. After defeating it, Mr. Millkeeper reveals the "knight" legend was a fabrication. Carlow flees in disbelief.
Finding Carlow
During the day, find Carlow in Egla Town's plaza. He's confronted by knights, but instead of backing down, he challenges one to a duel, accepting the reality of being a protector. The quest concludes after Carlow issues the challenge, rewarding Union XP, Astrites, and resources.
