Will Wright's New AI Life Sim, Proxi, Unveils More Details on Twitch

Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently shared new details about his upcoming AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream with BreakthroughT1D. Initially announced in 2018, Proxi has remained relatively secretive until a recent "not-a-trailer-trailer" and this latest developer interview.

The livestream, part of BreakthroughT1D's Dev Diaries series, focused on the game's development and Wright's personal connection to the project. BreakthroughT1D is a leading organization dedicated to Type 1 diabetes research.

Proxi is described as an "AI life sim built from your memories." Players input personal memories as text, which the game then transforms into animated scenes. These scenes are customizable using in-game assets. Each added memory ("mem") trains the game's AI and expands the player's "mind world," a 3D environment where memories are visually represented.

As the mind world grows, AI representations ("Proxies") of friends and family populate it, connected to memories reflecting their presence. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds, such as Minecraft and Roblox.

Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on a deeply personal experience. He explained his design philosophy: "I found myself getting continuously closer and closer to the player... the more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements expected soon.
