Expedition Mechanics & Detonation
Expeditions are marked by a light blue spiral icon on the Atlas. An Expedition Precursor Tablet placed in a completed Lost Tower slot guarantees an Expedition encounter. Upon entering a map, locate the marked area and interact with one of four NPCs.
The core mechanic involves strategically placing Explosives near Markers to spawn Runic Monsters and Excavated Chests.
- Runic Monsters: Spawn near Red Markers; larger markers yield larger monster packs. Their power is enhanced by Unearthed Remnants.
- Unearthed Remnants: Relics providing beneficial or detrimental modifiers (e.g., increased elemental damage but higher item rarity from chests).
- Excavated Chests: Spawn near Black Markers with the spiral symbol; contain Artifacts, Logbooks, currency, Waystones, and high-tier gear.
Use the Explosives UI to visualize their area of effect (AoE). Avoid overlapping AoE circles for optimal farming. Detonate Explosives via the Detonator after placement. Leaving the area doesn't end the event; strategically detonate, retreat, then return to engage enemies.
Expedition Pinnacle Map
Runic Monsters and Excavated Chests have a chance to drop Expedition Logbooks. Use these with Dannig in your hideout to access the Expedition Pinnacle Map – a significantly larger event with increased Explosives. This map features Olroth, a Pinnacle Boss (indicated by a skull on the minimap). Defeating Olroth grants 2x Expedition Passive Skill Tree points.
Expedition Passive Skill Tree
Located in the Atlas Passive Skill Tree, the Expedition Passive Skill Tree enhances the event. Points are earned by defeating Olroth. The tree features Notable nodes and difficulty-increasing nodes for Logbooks. Each Notable node requires increasing Logbook difficulty.

Prioritize "Disturbed Rest," "Detailed Records," "Timed Detonations," "Weight of History," "Unearthed Anomalies," and "Legendary Battles" for optimal reward increases. Avoid "Extreme Archaeology" due to the significant reduction in Explosives.
Expedition Rewards
Artifacts are the primary currency. Four types exist, each used with a specific vendor for gear:
