Marvel Rivals Upcoming Features and Events
Switch Shader Compilation Mode
NetEase is set to roll out an experimental feature aimed at boosting Marvel Rivals' stability and reducing its memory footprint. On April 30, through a post on Twitter (X), Marvel Rivals shared the upcoming launch of the Switch Shader Compilation Mode, designed to enhance the gaming experience, particularly for those with lower RAM capacities or FPS concerns.
In a detailed blog post on their website, Marvel Rivals addressed player concerns about performance hiccups and crashes due to high memory demands during gameplay.
The blog explains, "To tackle memory overload, we're introducing an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. With the Season 2 update, players can enable this feature via the PC launcher." This is especially beneficial for players with 16GB of RAM or less.
Upon activation, the feature promises:
- The shader compilation process will only activate upon first entering the game after a new game version or graphics driver update.
- A significant reduction in game memory usage, minimizing severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes due to memory shortages.
However, the developers have highlighted some potential issues with this feature. At the start of each match, some materials might render incorrectly for a few frames before normalizing. Additionally, there may be occasional stutters, though these should resolve quickly during the match.
