CS2 incoming: Halo Infinite Set to Launch S&D Extraction Mode with Deep Economic Mechanics

Halo Infinite, while perhaps not dominating the headlines like some other titles, continues to receive consistent content updates. A recent addition is S&D Extraction, a new competitive game mode designed to deliver a strategic and refreshing gameplay experience.

Inspired by Counter-Strike's core mechanics, S&D Extraction puts a unique Halo twist on the classic bomb defusal formula. Two teams of four players face off—attackers attempting to plant a device, and defenders striving to prevent them. Teams swap roles after each round, with the first team to win six rounds claiming victory.

The mode introduces a compelling economic system. Players earn in-game currency by completing objectives, which they then use to purchase equipment at the start of each round. Prices fluctuate based on player performance, adding another layer of strategic depth. Importantly, all purchased gear is lost at the end of each round.

Item pricing reflects their in-round effectiveness and power. Expect cheaper options early on, escalating costs mid-match, and potentially even higher prices late in the game if players strategically save their earnings. Respawning after elimination is also an option, though it will come at a cost.

S&D Extraction is scheduled for release in Halo Infinite during 2025, promising a dynamic and engaging competitive experience for the Halo community.
