Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 Arrives January 28th
Treyarch has officially announced the launch date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2: Tuesday, January 28th. This marks the end of Season 1, a remarkably long 75-day run, making it one of the longest seasons in Call of Duty history.
While specifics on Season 2's content remain under wraps, Treyarch has hinted at more classic map remakes. This news comes as a welcome relief to many, following a recent player dip attributed to ongoing cheating issues in Ranked Play and persistent server problems. The hope is that the fresh content will revitalize the game's player base to its launch-day numbers. Black Ops 6, despite its initial success as the biggest Call of Duty game to date (highest player count in its first 30 days), has experienced a downturn in recent weeks.
Season 2 Launch Confirmed
The Season 2 launch date was revealed in a recent update addressing Zombies-related issues. While some fixes were delayed, Treyarch confirmed the January 28th launch in the January 9th patch notes. A detailed blog post unveiling the full Season 2 content is anticipated soon.
Season 1 delivered a substantial update, introducing new multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, and events. For Warzone players, the integration with Black Ops 6 brought a new movement system, weapons, gameplay updates, and the Area-99 Resurgence map. The season also saw the welcome return of fan favorites like Nuketown and Hacienda from Black Ops 4.
Looking ahead, while details are scarce, Treyarch has previously suggested more classic map remasters are in the works for Black Ops 6. Associate Creative Director Miles Leslie stated in a December interview that no Black Ops map is ruled out for remaking, although original maps remain a priority.
