Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana cleverly introduces challenging bosses, gradually teaching players to master the game's mechanics. While not excessively long, the game offers a satisfying number of boss encounters. Initially, players might need some guidance, but facing Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, demands a solid understanding of combat, abilities, and game mechanics.
How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
- Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)
After defeating Guilen, The Fire Eater, players progress through the Zone of Lava to encounter Gyalva. Strategically fighting from either end of the bridge significantly simplifies this battle.
Due to limited movement options and the constantly shifting bridge platforms, the key is quick attacks and strategic retreats. Utilize wind magic to maximize damage output within short bursts. The fight requires precise timing and movement.
The Ys franchise consistently ranks among Nihon Falcom's best, and conquering bosses like Gyalva provides a deeply rewarding experience.
Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
While Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, a remake of Ys 3, expands on the franchise's lore, Gyalva is a new addition to the boss roster. This formidable foe possesses a diverse attack repertoire, capable of inflicting substantial damage quickly. Gyalva’s attacks often involve manipulating the bridge, tossing sections into the air.
Before engaging Gyalva, consider upgrading Adol's equipment and aiming for at least level 21. This level is achievable through consistent combat with smaller enemies throughout the game.
Spinning Attacks
Gyalva employs two variations of spinning attacks. The first targets a section of the bridge, launching affected platforms into the air. The second involves a full-bridge sweep, flipping all platforms. Both attacks can be devastating to under-leveled players.
To avoid the first attack, quickly move to either side of the affected area. For the second, retreat to the safety of either ledge at the bridge's ends. Avoid being cornered at the very end; instead, strike Gyalva and then retreat to the nearest ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches fireballs onto the bridge, sending platforms airborne. While damaging, this attack also presents an opportunity to land several hits on Gyalva.
Bursting Torches
Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, accompanied by fireballs jumping between them. These bursts inflict damage, and their timing is unpredictable. Wait for the burst to subside before moving through the area.
