Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series by letting fans vote on the next official merchandise items! A whopping 100 options are available, with the top two vote-getters slated for release within the next two years. The poll is currently only available in Japanese, but submissions can be made on the official website.
The merchandise choices range from the expected (like a 20th-anniversary hoodie or pencil case) to the utterly bizarre, drawing heavily on the series' famously outlandish history.
Among the more unusual options are Munan Suzuki's cult outfit from Yakuza 0, the giant traffic cone from Yakuza Kiwami, and the intriguingly named "Puffy Gold Pants." Other items include Majima's sake cup from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prison uniform from Yakuza 4.
2025 will see at least one new entry in the series, Like a Dragon: Pirate of the Caribbean Yakuza in Hawaii, launching February 21st. While a second release is unconfirmed, RGG Studio's prolific output in recent years (nine games in the last five years, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden, and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, plus two Super Monkey Ball games and a Virtua Fighter 5 remaster) suggests it's not out of the realm of possibility.
