Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced
Microsoft has unveiled the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, 2025, at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This marks the third annual event, following successful showcases in 2023 and 2024. The broadcast will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.
This Developer Direct will be the first Xbox game showcase of 2025, continuing the tradition established in previous years. Initial rumors of a January announcement surfaced earlier in the month.
Confirmed Games:
The showcase will feature in-depth looks at three highly anticipated titles:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
- Doom: The Dark Ages: The latest installment in the iconic Doom franchise from id Software. A demo was playable at QuakeCon 2024, with rumors pointing towards a mid-2025 launch.
- South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (Canada), the creators of Contrast and We Happy Few. Announced in June 2023, a release date is expected during this showcase.
Beyond the Confirmed Titles:
While three games are confirmed, past Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and showcased multiple titles. The 2024 event featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. It's highly likely the 2025 event will hold similar surprises.
