Valheim's Wandering Merchants: Locations and Inventory Guide

Valheim's challenge lies in exploring diverse biomes and gathering resources to defeat formidable bosses. The journey is eased by the game's three merchants, each offering unique and helpful items. However, their locations are procedurally generated, making them tricky to find. This guide reveals their whereabouts and inventories.

Finding Haldor (Black Forest Merchant)

Haldor, residing in the Black Forest, is often the easiest merchant to locate due to his proximity to the world center (within a 1500m radius). He frequently spawns near The Elder's lair, often identifiable by glowing ruins in Burial Chambers. For a more efficient search, use the Valheim World Generator (created by wd40bomber7) to pinpoint his exact coordinates using your world seed. Once found, Haldor remains in that location; building a portal for easy access is recommended. Gold is his currency; easily acquired by exploring dungeons and selling gems, jewelry, etc.

Locating Hildir (Meadows Merchant)

Hildir, situated in the Meadows, presents a greater challenge due to her distant spawn point (3000-5100m from the world center). The Valheim World Generator is again recommended. Alternatively, search Meadows within the specified radius; spawn points are approximately 1000m apart. A T-shirt icon appears on the map when you're within 300-400m. Build a portal upon discovery.

Hildir offers clothing with stamina reduction buffs and unique quests. These quests involve retrieving lost items from various dungeons:

  • Smouldering Tombs (Black Forest)
  • Howling Caverns (Mountains)
  • Sealed Towers (Plains)

Completing these quests unlocks additional, higher-tier items in her shop.

Finding the Bog Witch (Swamp Merchant)

The Bog Witch, located in the treacherous Swamp biome (3000-8000m from the world center), is the most challenging merchant to find. The Valheim World Generator is strongly recommended. Look for her Cauldron icon on the map as you approach. She remains in one spot once found, so prepare for portal construction.

The Bog Witch, a friendly Greydwarf, offers items for cooking new foods and crafting meads. Her hut provides comfort level 3.
