The troubles began in 2022, shortly after the closed beta testing phase started, with gameplay leaks emerging. These leaks resurfaced two years later, indicating that the project is still in active development. Recently, following what seems to be a reboot of the game’s development, an introductory cinematic has been leaked online.
The origin and authenticity of the cinematic remain unconfirmed by Ubisoft. The leak was shared by blogger Shaun Weber, known for his history of leaking gaming content. Weber suggested that more videos from Project U could surface if the game continues to be in development for an extended period.
Project U is anticipated to be a session-based cooperative shooter, taking inspiration from the success of Helldivers 2. According to the leaked footage, the game's narrative centers around an alien machine invasion of Earth, where players assume the roles of chosen individuals tasked with combating this extraterrestrial threat.
