Suicide Squad Fallout Impacts Rocksteady

Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs, which halved the testing team's size.

The studio struggled throughout 2024 to maintain Suicide Squad amidst poor reception and significant financial losses (approximately $200 million, according to Warner Bros.). No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.

These job cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also laid off 99 employees in December.

The game's early access release exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a major plot spoiler. Negative reviews from prominent gaming publications and widespread gameplay criticism led to a massive 791% surge in refund requests, according to McLuck analytics.

Rocksteady's future projects remain undisclosed.
