Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has hinted at a potential PC port. While the game launched as a PS5 exclusive due to its Sony partnership, recent statements suggest a PC release is under consideration.
Stellar Blade's April release was met with significant success, achieving top-selling status in the US and garnering an 82 average rating on OpenCritic. This strong performance, along with Shift Up's acknowledgment of the growing PC AAA gaming market, fuels speculation about a port.
During an IPO press conference, CEO Kim Hyung-Tae stated that a PC port is being "considered," but a concrete timeline remains uncertain due to contractual obligations with Sony. CFO Jae-woo Ahn echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the shift in the primary consumer base towards PC and the potential for increased IP value with a PC release.
A previous financial report from Shift Up also mentioned exploring both a sequel and a PC port for Stellar Blade. Given Sony's established strategy of eventually bringing its exclusives to PC (as evidenced by the upcoming PC release of God of War: Ragnarok), a Stellar Blade PC port seems increasingly probable.
While the decision on a PC port remains pending, Shift Up continues to refine the PS5 version. Recent updates have introduced some graphical glitches, but the developer has confirmed they are actively working on a solution.
