This guide explains how to obtain and utilize the Crystalarium in Stardew Valley, a valuable tool for gem and mineral replication. The 1.6 update introduced subtle changes to its functionality, particularly regarding relocation and stone swapping.
Obtaining a Crystalarium
The Crystalarium recipe unlocks at Mining Level 9. Crafting requires:
- 99 Stone
- 5 Gold Bars (forged from Gold Ore using a Furnace and Coal)
- 2 Iridium Bars (forged from Iridium Ore found in Skull Cavern or obtained from the Statue of Perfection)
- 1 Battery Pack (obtained from a Lightning Rod struck by lightning)
Alternatively, obtain a Crystalarium by:
- Completing the 25,000g Community Center bundle.
- Donating 50 minerals to the Museum.
Using the Crystalarium
Place the Crystalarium anywhere – indoors or outdoors. The Quarry is a popular location for mass production.
The Crystalarium replicates any mineral or gemstone (except Prismatic Shards). Quartz has the shortest growth time but low value. Diamonds offer the highest profit despite a 5-day production time.
To move a Crystalarium, hit it with an axe or pickaxe. Any gem currently being replicated will drop. To change the gem type, simply interact with the Crystalarium while holding the desired gem; the old gem will be ejected.
By strategically using the Crystalarium, players can significantly increase their profits and improve their relationships with villagers who appreciate gemstones as gifts.
