Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. This revelation, accompanied by a new gameplay trailer, showcases Binks wielding a large staff and delivering his characteristically chaotic dialogue.
The remastered Jedi Power Battles, originally released in 2000, aims to recapture the nostalgia of the original while adding new content. This includes customizable lightsaber colors, cheat code support, and a significantly expanded roster of playable characters.
Beyond the unexpected addition of Jar Jar Binks, Aspyr has unveiled nine other new playable characters, with more promised. This diverse lineup includes the Rodian, Flame Droid, Gungan Guard, Destroyer Droid, Ishi Tib, Rifle Droid, Staff Tusken Raider, Weequay, and Mercenary. The inclusion of multiple droid types and iconic characters like the Staff Tusken Raider adds depth to the already impressive roster.
The updated Jedi Power Battles launches January 23rd, offering fans a chance to experience these new additions firsthand. Aspyr's prior experience remastering classic Star Wars titles, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, suggests a promising update for nostalgic fans. Pre-orders are currently available.
