In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will stumble upon various NPCs, often leading to quests, including the "For Science!" side mission. This mission begins with a meeting between Skif and Yaryk Mongoose at the Central Elevator in the Chemical Plant.
Initiating "For Science!"
To start, locate Yaryk Mongoose within the Central Elevator area. Upon approaching, you'll hear a radio call between Mongoose and Skif. Proceed to the first floor, bypassing conveyor belts and climbing rusted stairs. Vault the railing to reach Mongoose and initiate the conversation. He'll explain the need to activate a second measuring device atop a nearby silo. Agreeing to his request officially begins the "For Science!" side quest.
Reaching the Silo's Peak
Exit the room and ascend to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. Climb through a broken window and use the external ladder to reach the silo walkways. Equip a bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed along the silo's top to activate the second measuring device.
Activating the device will attract Bloodsuckers. You can choose to fight them or evade them to reach Mongoose.
The Confrontation
Upon confronting Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice impacts the game significantly. Choosing the peaceful route rewards the Malachite Pass and coupons. The pass grants access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible via main missions.
