Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating Season Two of the hit Netflix show with a massive content drop! Get ready for new characters, a fresh map, and exciting challenges. Plus, exclusive rewards await those who watch the new episodes.
Netflix's surprising decision to offer Squid Game: Unleashed free to all players, subscribers and non-subscribers alike, before the holidays, was a bold move. Now, with this new content update, they're cleverly incentivizing viewers to engage with both the game and the show.
Starting January 3rd, the update introduces a new map inspired by the Mingle mini-game from Squid Game Season Two. Three new playable characters also debut throughout January: Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and Thanos (the rapper!).
Geum-Ja and Thanos each have special in-game events running on January 3rd and 9th respectively, allowing players to unlock them. But the rewards don't stop there! Watching episodes of Squid Game Season Two earns you in-game Cash and Wild Tokens. Watching up to seven episodes unlocks the exclusive Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's the January schedule for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: New Mingle map launches. Geum-Ja's Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event begins (until January 9th), challenging players to complete Mingle-inspired mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos arrives! His recruitment event, Thanos’ Red Light Challenge, starts (until January 14th). Players must eliminate opponents using knives to unlock him.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the game as the final character addition in this update.
Squid Game: Unleashed is proving to be a significant step for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The free-to-play model, combined with the reward system for Netflix subscribers who watch the show, is a strategic move to boost both the game's popularity and the show's viewership.
