"How to Obtain Solanium in No Man's Sky"

Author : Sarah Apr 01,2025

In the vast universe of No Man's Sky, certain resources are exclusive to planets with specific climates. Solanium is one such resource, essential for various in-game activities, but it's only available on planets with hot and scorched environments. Whether you're gathering, farming, or crafting, here's everything you need to know about obtaining Solanium in No Man's Sky.

How to Find Solanium in No Man's Sky

Solanium is akin to Frost Crystal, but you'll find it on planets characterized by hot and scorched climates. When navigating space, use your starship's scanner to identify planets with terms like Arid Planet, Incandescent Planet, Boiling Planet, or Scorched Planet. These descriptions indicate a hot and dry environment where Solanium is available.

Once you land on such a planet, equip your Analysis Visor to locate Solar Vine plants. These plants resemble tall rocks enveloped by glowing vines and are typically found in clusters. To harvest them, you'll need the Haz-Mat Gauntlet. While on the planet, consider extracting Phosphorus if available, as it's crucial for crafting additional Solanium when you're away from hot planets.

How to Farm Solanium in No Man's Sky

Farming Solanium becomes possible after advancing in the Farmer's Agricultural Research mission. You can set up a Hydroponic Tray or Bio-Dome at your base and plant Solar Vines using 50 Solanium and 50 Phosphorus. If your base is on a hot planet, you can plant Solar Vines directly into the ground.

The growth cycle for Solar Vines takes about 16 real-life hours, so plan to return the next day to harvest your crop.

How to Craft Solanium in No Man's Sky

Crafting Solanium involves using a Refiner with recipes that often require Phosphorus, which you can gather from hot planets or purchase from traders and Galactic Trade Terminals. Here are the crafting recipes for Solanium in No Man's Sky:

  • Solanium + Phosphorus (to create more Solanium)
  • Phosphorus + Oxygen
  • Phosphorus + Sulphurine
  • Di-hydrogen + Sulphurine

Note that all these recipes, including those involving Sulphurine, necessitate a visit to a hot planet. To maintain a steady supply of Sulphurine, gather ample Phosphorus and establish a farm at your base.
