Following its closed alpha phase, Smite 2's open beta is now freely available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam Deck. Alongside the launch of the free-to-play open beta, Titan Forge Games has released a new patch for Smite 2 that includes new gods, a new game mode, and additional content.

Announced a year ago, Smite 2 is the sequel to the popular third-person MOBA, built on Unreal Engine 5. This sequel offers an enhanced experience over the original, with improved visuals and refined combat mechanics. It also features an updated item shop, allowing players to select items irrespective of their chosen god's classification. Similar to its predecessor, players assume the roles of various gods from different cultures to engage in 5v5 battles and besiege the enemy team. Now, after a successful closed alpha, Smite 2 is open to everyone.

Starting January 14, players can download Smite 2's open beta for free across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. The latest update introduces fresh content, including Aladdin, a god specifically designed for Smite 2. Aladdin can run along walls and even revive after death due to his companion's ability, which grants him three wishes. True to his legendary tale, Aladdin's ultimate ability allows him to use his lamp to capture enemies and force them into a one-on-one fight.

Smite 2's Free-to-Play Open Beta Introduces New Content

  • 5 new gods
  • Aladdin, a god crafted exclusively for Smite 2
  • The fan-favorite 3v3 game mode "Joust"
  • A brand new Arthurian-themed map
  • Updates to the Conquest map
  • An alpha version of the Assault game mode
  • New optional enhancements for some gods known as Aspects
  • Available for free download on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Steam Deck.

The additional gods joining the Smite 2 lineup include Geb, the Egyptian God of Earth; Mulan, the Chinese Ascendant Warrior; Agni, from the Hindu Pantheon; and Ullr, from the Norse Pantheon. Alongside these gods, Smite 2 brings back the beloved Joust mode from the original game, where players compete on a smaller 3v3 map. Both the Conquest map and the Assault game mode are also accessible during the open beta.

Titan Forge Games’ creative director stated that Smite 2 surpasses its predecessor in numerous aspects. The developer expressed gratitude to the community for their feedback during the closed alpha, which helped refine Smite 2, and promised "ambitious content" for the game in 2025.

While Smite 2 is available on most major platforms, it will not be coming to the Nintendo Switch due to concerns about the console's performance capabilities. However, Titan Forge Games has hinted at the potential for a release on the Switch 2. In the meantime, fans of Smite can dive into the open beta of this exciting sequel.
