Hollow Knight: Silksong is Still in Development, Confirms Team Cherry
Recent speculation surrounding a cryptic cake-themed profile picture change by a Hollow Knight co-creator sent ripples of excitement (and confusion) through the fanbase. However, Team Cherry’s Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, clarified that the cake was simply a harmless profile picture update, dispelling rumors of an ARG or Nintendo Switch 2 announcement.
Despite the cake-related confusion, Griffin offered crucial reassurance: "Yes, the game is real, progressing, and will release." This confirmation, the first substantial update in over a year and a half, provides much-needed relief to anxious fans.
A Six-Year Journey
Initially unveiled in February 2019 with a projected release in the first half of 2023, Silksong's development has been a longer journey than anticipated. A delay announced in May 2023 cited the game's expanded scope and the team's commitment to delivering a polished experience. Silksong promises a new kingdom, nearly 150 new enemies, and a challenging new difficulty level, "Silk Soul" mode.
While the recent update has been met with a mixture of relief and continued impatience, Griffin's confirmation provides a much-needed boost to fan morale. Some eagerly await further details, offering words of encouragement to the development team. Others, however, express frustration at the perceived lack of substantial updates after nearly six years of anticipation.
