RE4 Remake Surges Beyond Milestone, Reinvigorating Franchise

Capcom's Resident Evil 4 Remake Surpasses 9 Million Copies Sold

Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil 4 remake has achieved a remarkable sales milestone, exceeding 9 million copies sold since its launch. This success likely stems from the February 2023 release of the Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition and the late 2023 iOS release. The game's rapid ascent to this figure builds upon its recent achievement of 8 million copies sold.

The remake, launched in March 2023, follows Leon S. Kennedy's mission to rescue the President's daughter, Ashley Graham, from a dangerous cult. A significant departure from the series' survival horror origins, Resident Evil 4 embraced a more action-oriented gameplay style.

The CapcomDev1 Twitter account celebrated this achievement with celebratory artwork featuring Ada, Krauser, Saddler, Salazar, and Mendez enjoying a game of bingo. A recent update further boosted the game's performance on PS5 Pro.

Record-Breaking Sales for Resident Evil 4

According to Alex Aniel, author of "Itchy, Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil," Resident Evil 4 boasts the fastest sales in the franchise's history. This is particularly impressive when compared to Resident Evil Village, which reached 500,000 copies sold after its eighth quarter.
