The eagerly awaited Ratatan gameplay trailer, showcased during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, offers a thrilling look at the game in action. Developed by Ratatan Works, the trailer highlights the game's unique blend of rhythm roguelike and side-scrolling action. A standout feature is the battle against a colossal boss crab, showcasing the game's intense combat dynamics.Ratatan builds on the rhythm-based gameplay fans adored in Patapon, expanding it with online co-op support for up to 4 players. The game promises epic battles with up to 100 characters participating in melee combat. Spearheaded by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and featuring music by the original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi, Ratatan has successfully met its Kickstarter goal for a console release, ensuring its availability on various platforms.
Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025
Ratatan is set to launch its closed beta on February 27, 2025, as announced on their Kickstarter page. Kazuto Sakajiri, the game's producer, shared updates on the game's progress, including surpassing 100,000 wishlists on Steam and receiving positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While the game won't feature at the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is focusing on enhancing the demo for the June festival.
During the closed beta, players will initially access Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 to be added over the test period, which will span approximately a month. Details on code distribution, start dates, and times will be shared via Discord and X once confirmed.
Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, although no specific release date has been announced yet.
