It's always a shame when you miss out on top community events, especially in Pokémon Go with the ability to catch rare Pokémon with your friends. But if you've missed out this year you're in luck, because Niantic are set to debut an exclusive end-of-year Catch-a-thon event!
The catch-a-thon will run on Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd, from 2 pm to 5 pm local time, with featured Pokémon and special rewards. The featured Pokémon, including shiny appearances, for each day, are:
- December 21st: Bellsprout, Chansey, Goomy, Rowlet, Litten and Bounsweet.
- December 22nd: Mankey, Ponyta, Galarian Ponyta, Sewaddle, Tynamo and Popplio.
For the last ten minutes of each hour, you'll also have a chance to encounter Porygon, Cyndaquil, Bagon, and Beldum. That's on top of 2x XP for catching Pokémon, 2x Stardust and a whole load of other rewards for this limited-time event. With major updates such as the debut of Gigantamax and other key features, it's been a big year for Pokémon Go. So it's little surprise that Niantic is going to be dragging you back in for one last major community event before the end of the year. Ordinarily, I'd be sceptical about the idea of hosting an event that close to the holidays, but I know that more than a few of you are such major fans of Pokémon Go that a few hours out in the cold won't dissuade you.
