Get Ready for the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova! Black and White Kyurem and Shiny Meloetta Arrive!
Prepare for the arrival of Black Kyurem and White Kyurem in Pokémon GO! These legendary Pokémon, along with a Shiny Meloetta, will debut as part of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova. This guide details how to capture and fuse these powerful Pokémon.
Kyurem's Dual Forms Make Their Debut
Following the December 2024 announcement, Niantic has confirmed the exciting debut of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta for the February 2025 Unova Tour. From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, can participate in special events.
To obtain Kyurem, players must conquer Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids. Once captured, Kyurem can be fused with either Zekrom or Reshiram to unlock its alternate forms and new attacks: Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) and Ice Burn (White Kyurem).
Fusion Requirements:
- Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, 30 Zekrom Candy
- White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, 30 Reshiram Candy
Fusion Energy is earned by defeating Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversion to Kyurem's base form is free. Increased Shiny rates for Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom will also be in effect during the event.
A global event, Pokémon GO Tour: Unova - Global, will run from March 1st to 2nd, 2025, offering a ticket-free opportunity for all trainers to participate.
Meloetta: The Melody Pokémon Arrives!
Shiny Meloetta makes its Pokémon GO debut! In-person event attendees can complete a Masterwork Research task to encounter this Pokémon. While the in-person event is short, the Masterwork Research has no time limit.

Iconic Unova Legendaries
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon games. Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, which, like their Pokémon GO counterparts, learn Ice Burn and Freeze Shock.
