Sega Launches Sega Account: Your Gateway to Sega/Atlus Rewards
Sega's new Sega Account service aims to enhance the player experience by providing a single point of access for various Sega and Atlus online services. As stated on their official website, the account promises "maximized online services and a ton of benefits."
Benefits include access to the latest news, upcoming events, and promotions for Sega and Atlus games. Account holders also gain access to exclusive bonuses and the ability to link gaming accounts across multiple platforms for convenient tracking. Future updates will even include game history features.
To celebrate the launch, players who create a Sega Account and link a compatible Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth platform account (Steam, PlayStation Network, or Xbox) before March 7th will receive a code for the free Kazuma Kiryu Special Outfit DLC for Goro Majima. Unique codes will be distributed to eligible players starting February 17th, redeemable in-game upon its February 28th release.
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis (NGS) players also benefit, receiving 300 Star Gems, 100x C/Endymio, 500x Card Scratch Tickets, 3 Beauty Salon Passes, 3 Color Change Passes, and a special Sega logo lobby action upon linking their Sega Account to NGS.
A Potential Link to Sega's Ambitious "Super Game"?
Many believe this Sega Account launch is connected to Sega's previously announced "Super Game" initiative, detailed in a 2022 report. Sega CEO Haruki Satomi stated, "One strategy for generating such hit titles is the creation of a 'Super Game' - a large-scale global title. We're currently developing such a game, targeting release by the fiscal year ending March 2026."
While details remain scarce two years later, Sega and its subsidiaries have been actively developing various titles, from classics like Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio to new projects such as the mysterious Yakuza-like Project Century. The introduction of the Sega Account platform could signal the beginning of a new era for Sega, with the full impact of these plans yet to be seen.
