Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, its location makes it easily missed. This guide explains how to locate and activate this beneficial encounter.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan shrine appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in each act grants +10% Lightning Resistance. Its understated icon on the map makes it inconspicuous.
Due to PoE 2's procedurally generated maps, the shrine's exact location within the Spires of Deshar map varies each playthrough. However, it's always present on this map; thorough exploration is key. The shrine resembles the image above. Upon interaction, metallic automatons guarding the shrine will activate and attack. This triggers all automatons on the map to become hostile.
A convenient strategy involves reaching the checkpoint near the map exit before interacting with the shrine. This allows fast travel back to the shrine's vicinity, avoiding unnecessary combat.
Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is granted instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate.
Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating it twice yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Troubleshooting: Why the Buff Doesn't Appear Immediately
Many players find it confusing that despite activating the shrine and receiving the in-game message, their resistance values might still appear negative.
This is due to a game mechanic: Completing each Act in PoE 2 imposes a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, after activating the shrine in Act 2, your net Lightning Resistance will be zero (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, activating the shrine will improve your Lightning Resistance from -40% to -30%.
To verify the buff's application, remove all equipment in the endgame and check your resistances. A -40% elemental resistance indicates that you've successfully completed both encounters.
