Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide
Path of Exile 2 introduces four major endgame map events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. Building upon the original Path of Exile's Ritual League, this guide details how to initiate and master the Ritual endgame event, including mechanics, the Pinnacle boss, and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.
Understanding Rituals and Altars
On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon featuring a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, inserted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.
Once in a Ritual map, several Altars will appear. Each map features a shared random modifier impacting enemy types and mechanics. These modifiers might introduce massive rat hordes, life-draining pools of blood, or other challenging elements.
Locate an Altar, examine its modifiers, and interact to trigger a large-scale enemy wave. Remain within the designated circle; venturing into the shadows ends the event without reward. Successfully completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.
Confronting the King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss
The "An Audience With The King" currency item, obtainable through Favours, unlocks a fight against the King in the Mists, the Ritual Pinnacle Boss, within the Crux of Nothingness. This boss shares mechanics with its Act 1 Cruel counterpart (Freythorn zone).
Victory rewards two Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at event-exclusive Unique items, powerful Currencies, and Omen items.
Navigating the Ritual Passive Skill Tree
The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessed via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree screen (bottom right), enhances Ritual rewards. Nodes modify Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost Unique Currency drop rates.
The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Defeating the King in the Mists grants two skill points, necessitating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.
Prioritize these Notable nodes: "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents" for optimal reward increases. Subsequently, focus on "Tempting Offers" and "He Approaches" for improved Omen and "An Audience With The King" chances.

Harvesting Rewards: Tribute, Favours, and Omens
Completed Rituals yield Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for randomized Favours. More Altars completed equate to more Tribute and unlocked Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-level Currencies to Rare gear and high-tier Currencies. "An Audience With The King" is exclusively obtained via Favours.
Omen items, exceptionally powerful, enhance other Currency items. These are consumed upon use and highly sought after for crafting or trading.
Beyond the Tribute/Favour system, Ritual enemies drop high-tier Currencies (e.g., Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop event-exclusive Uniques.
