Path of Exile 2 Freezing? Here's How to Fix It!
Grinding Gear Games' Path of Exile 2, a Diablo-like action RPG, has been plagued by PC freezing issues for some players. This guide offers solutions to resolve these frustrating crashes, ranging from simple in-game adjustments to a slightly more involved workaround.
Quick Fixes:
Before resorting to more complex methods, try these initial steps:
- Change Rendering API: Switch between Vulkan and DirectX 11 in the game's graphics settings.
- Disable V-Sync: Turn off V-Sync in the graphics settings.
- Disable Multithreading: Disable multithreading in the graphics settings.
More Involved Solution (Courtesy of Steam User svzanghi):
If the above steps don't work, this method, while requiring extra steps, allows for a quicker game restart without a full PC reboot:
- Launch Path of Exile 2.
- Open your PC's Task Manager and click "Details."
- Right-click on
POE2.exe
and select "Set Affinity." - Uncheck the boxes for CPU 0 and CPU 1.
This prevents a complete freeze, allowing you to force-quit the game via Task Manager and relaunch without a full system restart. However, you must repeat this process each time you start the game.
While an official patch is anticipated, these workarounds provide temporary relief from the freezing issue. For more Path of Exile 2 tips, strategies, and build guides, check out The Escapist.
