For anyone seriously diving into Path of Exile 2's Endgame, setting up an effective loot filter isn't just a luxury—it's a necessity. Loot filters not only clear the clutter from your screen, making mapping a more enjoyable experience, but they also streamline your gameplay by highlighting only the items that truly matter. This way, you can focus on the loot that will enhance your character without getting bogged down by the endless stream of irrelevant drops.
FilterBlade, renowned for its effectiveness in Path of Exile 1, has now been updated to support Path of Exile 2. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to make the most of it.
How to Set Up FilterBlade Loot Filters in Path of Exile 2
Visit the FilterBlade Website: Navigate to the FilterBlade site to begin setting up your loot filter.
Select PoE 2: Once on the site, make sure to select Path of Exile 2 when prompted.
Choose Default Filter: The default loot filter, NeverSink, will be automatically selected for you.
Adjust Strictness Level: Use the slider to select the desired strictness level of your filter (more on this below).
Export the Filter:
- Click on the "Export to PoE" tab located at the top right.
- Name your filter as you see fit.
- Choose between "Sync" or "Download" at the bottom right.
- Save & Sync: This option automatically syncs the FilterBlade loot filter to your PoE 2 account, ensuring any updates from the author are directly applied to your game.
- Save & Download: This lets you download the filter to your PC, which is handy for comparing different strictness levels or starting a new campaign.
Apply the Filter in PoE 2:
- Launch Path of Exile 2 and go to Options > Game.
- If you used the Sync option, select the newly added FilterBlade from the Item Filter dropdown.
- If you opted for Download, click the folder icon next to the dropdown and navigate to your downloaded filter file.
With these steps, your FilterBlade loot filter should now be active in your game, enhancing your gameplay experience.
Which Loot Filter Strictness Should You Choose?
The NeverSink FilterBlade preset offers seven strictness levels, each tailored to different stages of your gameplay. Choosing the right level is crucial as it determines which items appear on your screen. Here's a breakdown:
Strictness | Effect | Best For |
---|---|---|
Soft | Highlights valuable materials and items. Doesn't hide anything. | Act 1-2 |
Regular | Hides only useless stuff with no crafting potential/sale value. | Act 3 |
Semi-Strict | Hides items with low potential/limited value. | Act 4-6 |
Strict | Hides most items without high turnover. | Early Mapping phase (Waystone Tier 1-6) |
Very Strict | Hides low-value rare items and crafting bases. Also hides Waystone 1-6. | Mid to late mapping phase (Waystone 7+) |
Uber Strict | Hides almost all non-tiered rare items and crafting bases. Highlights complete currency. Hides Waystones 1-13. | Late mapping phase (Waystone 14+) |
Uber Plus Strict | Hides almost everything except valuable currencies and high return rares and uniques. Hides Waystones 1-14. | Ultra endgame mapping phase (Waystone 15-18) |
For players running through the campaign again, starting with the Semi-Strict level is advisable. Soft and Regular levels are ideal for fresh league starts or SSF runs where every item counts.
Remember, items hidden by your filter can still be viewed by pressing the highlight key (ALT on PC). FilterBlade's feature of resizing hidden item names to near invisibility upon highlighting adds to the convenience of picking up desired loot.
