Palworld developer Pocketpair is gearing up for a major crossplay update, slated for release in late March 2025. This exciting update will enable seamless multiplayer experiences across all platforms and introduce a new feature allowing players to transfer their Pals between worlds. In a recent post on X/Twitter, Pocketpair shared a glimpse of what's to come with a promotional image featuring various Palworld characters engaged in battle with a colossal Pal.

John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, hinted at "a few little surprises" that will accompany the March update, adding an extra layer of anticipation for fans. This news comes as a treat to the 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access debut in January 2024. Looking ahead, Pocketpair has outlined an ambitious content roadmap for 2025, which includes not only the crossplay feature but also an "ending scenario" and additional new content for this immensely popular creature-catching survival game.

Since its launch, Palworld has made waves on Steam at a price point of $30 and simultaneously debuted on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, shattering sales records and achieving unprecedented concurrent player numbers. The game's phenomenal launch led to overwhelming profits, which Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, admitted the studio struggled to manage. Capitalizing on this success, Pocketpair quickly moved to expand its reach by partnering with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture aimed at broadening the Palworld IP and bringing the game to the PlayStation 5.

However, the path forward isn't without challenges. Pocketpair faces a legal battle with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who have filed a lawsuit claiming that Palworld infringes on "multiple" patent rights. The developer has responded by adjusting the mechanics of summoning Pals within the game and has committed to defending its position in court, stating, “We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings.”
