The buzz surrounding the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, has been palpable since its announcement. Fans have been eagerly piecing together what mysteries it might unravel. However, during the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN uncovered that one particular enigma—the game's thrilling final cutscene—will remain unsolved by the DLC. For those yet to experience the conclusion of Lies of P, here's a spoiler-free summary: the ending features a cutscene that teases potential future directions for the Lies of P universe. This scene has sparked intense speculation among fans regarding its implications and potential ties to the DLC. Yet, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi clarified that this cutscene is not connected to Overture. Choi's only additional comment was, “Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future.”
Given Neowiz's announcement of a full sequel to Lies of P, it's likely that the mysterious cutscene pertains to Lies of P 2. However, details about the sequel remain scarce, and Choi was tight-lipped about any sequel-related hints during our conversation. He emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, stating, “What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you.”

The scene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the Dorothy scene. As detailed in our previous coverage, the final cutscene shows Paracelsus on a phone call, mentioning, "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals Dorothy's iconic striped socks and ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, hinting that future Lies of P narratives might intertwine with other public domain fairy tales. However, the exact nature and reasons behind this connection remain undisclosed, and we now know it won't be explored in Overture.
SPOILERS END HERE.
While the Dorothy mystery remains untouched, Choi did offer some insights into what fans can expect from Overture. He encourages players to revisit the base game, pointing out that it's littered with clues hinting at what's to come in the DLC. Choi remarked, “When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience. A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion.” He also noted that some fans are already on the right track, as he follows fan theories online and finds some of them to be "quite close."
Additionally, Choi shared that Overture is expected to take experienced players around 15-20 hours to complete. It will become available after reaching a “certain” chapter in the game and remain accessible until the end. As previously announced, Overture serves as a prequel, transporting the main character back in time to Krat just before its fall. The DLC will introduce new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi was careful to keep the specifics under wraps for the upcoming release.
