The estimated screen size is 8 inches diagonally (approximately 177mm wide and 99mm tall), a 30% diagonal increase and 66% larger area compared to the original Switch's 6.2-inch screen. This surpasses the Switch Lite's 5.5-inch screen (45% larger diagonally, 111% larger area) and the Switch OLED's 7-inch screen (14% larger diagonally, 30% larger area). While larger than the original Steam Deck's 7-inch screen, the Switch 2 is still smaller than the Steam Deck OLED's 7.4-inch display.
Overall Console Size:
Based on the Genki mock-up, the estimated dimensions are approximately 265mm long and 115mm tall. This represents a roughly 25% increase in size compared to the original Switch (239mm x 102mm). It's significantly larger than the Switch Lite (61% larger) but smaller than the Steam Deck (12% smaller). The depth is expected to be similar to the original Switch.
Joy-Con Size:
The Joy-Cons are estimated to be approximately 32mm wide and 115mm tall, a 13% increase in size compared to the original.
Screen Unit Size:
Subtracting the Joy-Con dimensions from the overall console size, the estimated screen unit size is 200mm long and 115mm tall, approximately 31% larger than the original Switch. This allows for relatively slim bezels around the 8-inch display.
