Nintendo's Alarmo Alarm Clock: Wider Release and Enhanced Features
Nintendo's innovative alarm clock, Alarmo, is set for a broader retail launch in March 2025, as announced via their official Twitter (X) account. This expansion marks a significant step, making the device readily available to a wider audience.
Initially launched with limited availability and requiring a Nintendo Online membership, Alarmo will now be accessible to all consumers at major retailers such as Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other authorized vendors. The $99.99 USD price point remains unchanged.
The high initial demand resulted in immediate sell-outs in various locations, including a complete sell-out in New York City and a temporary suspension of sales in Japan, necessitating a lottery system for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. This overwhelming response underscores the public's enthusiasm for the product.
Alarmo's popularity is particularly notable given the ongoing speculation surrounding the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. While Nintendo remains silent on the Switch 2, the success of Alarmo provides a different kind of positive news for the company.
Key Features of Nintendo Alarmo:
Alarmo boasts a unique blend of gaming nostalgia and practical functionality. It features charming sound effects and visuals from popular Nintendo franchises, including Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3, with over 42 scenes available at launch, and more to come via free updates.
The alarm experience itself is interactive. A game character patiently waits on screen, then gently awakens you with sounds. If you linger too long, a more insistent visitor and intensified sounds will encourage you to rise. The alarm can be silenced via motion sensors without needing to touch the device. Additional features include hourly chimes, sleep sounds, and sleep pattern tracking.
For households with multiple occupants or pets, a "Button Mode" is available. While initially requiring a Nintendo Online subscription, this requirement will be removed with the expanded release in March 2025, making Alarmo accessible to everyone.
