NieR: Automata's opening introduces players to 2B's mission. After disembarking your flight unit and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.
The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful early-game sword temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable once free-roaming is unlocked in the subsequent chapter.
Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata
This is the first obtainable additional weapon, located near your initial spawn point after exiting the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To your left, you'll see a highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb and reach the main road. This path leads back towards the factory.
Descend into the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. On the left, you'll find another access point and stairs leading upwards. From this upper area, locate the destroyed bridge where you encountered the Goliath-class enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge, ready to be collected.
To the right of the sword lies your discarded body, containing recoverable consumables from the prologue.

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels in wide-sweeping attacks, dealing substantial damage to multiple enemies. Its attack speed is slower, however. Upgrades can significantly boost its damage output, making it one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. You can also strategically incorporate it into combos with faster weapons using heavy attacks, maximizing damage despite its slower speed.
