Netflix's Animated Witcher Film Arrives February 2025
Mark your calendars! Netflix is releasing a new animated Witcher movie, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, on February 11, 2025. This exciting addition to the Witcher universe promises a captivating adventure.
A Coastal Conflict in the Continent
Based on Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny, Sirens of the Deep unfolds in a coastal village. A centuries-old conflict between humans and merfolk has prompted a kingdom to enlist the aid of a Witcher. This time, Geralt faces a unique challenge, trading typical monsters for the mythical creatures of the deep.
Returning voices include Doug Cockle as Geralt, Joey Batey as Jaskier, and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. Newcomer Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as Essi Daven. Andrzej Sapkowski acts as creative consultant, while Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) penned the script. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs.
A Season 1 Interlude
The film's timeline fits neatly between episodes 5 and 6 of the first season of the live-action series. Following Geralt and Yennefer's encounter in Rinde, Geralt is hired to resolve a coastal crisis. The film's setting is likely somewhere between Redania and Temeria, potentially Bremervoord City in Temeria, as depicted in the original story. However, the extent to which the film adheres to the short story remains to be seen.
