Mastering Minecraft Campfires: Extinguishing and Acquisition
The Minecraft Campfire, introduced in version 1.14, is a versatile block often used for decoration, but boasting a range of functionalities. It can damage mobs, create smoke signals, cook food, and even soothe bees. This guide details methods for extinguishing a Campfire and acquiring one.
How to Extinguish a Campfire in Minecraft
Three methods exist for extinguishing campfires:
- Water Bucket: The simplest method involves using a water bucket to douse the flames. Pour water onto the Campfire block.
- Splash Water Potion: Alternatively, throw a Splash Water Potion onto the Campfire. This requires gunpowder and glass, making it less efficient in the early game.
- Shovel: The least known, but most cost-effective method, is using any shovel (even a wooden one). Right-click (or use the left trigger on consoles) on the Campfire with the equipped shovel.
How to Obtain a Campfire in Minecraft
Acquiring a Campfire can be achieved in several ways:
- Natural Generation: Campfires naturally spawn in Taiga and Snowy Taiga villages, and within Ancient City camps. Note: Harvesting a pre-placed Campfire requires a tool with the Silk Touch enchantment; otherwise, you'll only receive coal (two in Java Edition, four in Bedrock Edition).
- Crafting: Campfires are easily crafted using sticks, wood, and either charcoal or soul sand. The latter determines the campfire type (regular or soul fire).
- Trading: Apprentice Fishermen will trade campfires for emeralds (five in Bedrock Edition, two in Java Edition).
