Microsoft Unveils Robust Xbox Game Pass January 2025 Wave 2 Lineup
Microsoft's Xbox Wire preempts their January 23rd Xbox Developer Direct with a significant announcement: the January 2025 Wave 2 Xbox Game Pass additions. This wave includes several day-one Game Pass titles, highlighted by Doom: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and a yet-to-be-revealed fourth game.
The lineup kicks off January 21st with Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S), a day-one release for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. This snowy sequel to Lonely Mountains: Downhill introduces up to eight-player cross-platform multiplayer, offering both cooperative and competitive gameplay modes.
January 22nd sees a flurry of additions:
- Flock (Console) joins Game Pass Standard, a multiplayer co-op experience centered around collecting adorable flying creatures.
- Gigantic: Rampage Edition (Cloud, Console, and PC) arrives on Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard, offering a 5v5 MOBA hero shooter experience.
- Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess (Console) launches on Game Pass Standard, a single-player Japanese-inspired action strategy game.
- Magical Delicacy (Console) and The Case of the Golden Idol (Console) also debut on Game Pass Standard.
- Tchia (Xbox Series X|S) makes its Game Pass Standard debut.
- Starbound (Cloud and Console) expands its Game Pass presence to Ultimate and Standard, following its PC Game Pass launch.
January 28th features two day-one releases:
- Eternal Strands (Cloud, Console, and PC) for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, a fantasy action-adventure game from Yellow Brick Games, a studio featuring veterans from prominent franchises.
- Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S), a third-person shooter and trap defense game, also joins Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Shady Part of Me (Cloud, Console, and PC) arrives on January 29th across Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard, offering a surreal, emotionally driven adventure.
January 30th brings the day-one release of Sniper Elite: Resistance (Cloud, Console, and PC) to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, focusing on sniping mechanics and tactical combat in occupied France.
Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S), a highly anticipated RPG sequel, launches day-one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on January 31st.
Finally, Far Cry New Dawn (Cloud, Console, and PC) concludes the wave on February 4th, joining Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard.
