Here's the official synopsis:
Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.
"The Odyssey" narrates the epic journey of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, who embarks on a decade-long quest to return home following the Trojan War. While Universal has kept further details under wraps, early reports suggest that the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast.
Matt Damon, who steps into the role of Odysseus, was the first actor linked to the project. This marks his reunion with Universal after starring in "Oppenheimer," which garnered seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. Rumors are circulating that Damon might be joined by a stellar lineup including Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Robert Pattinson.
