Attack the Tentacles

Nu Udra is a challenging adversary in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, thanks to its expansive tentacles which give it a broad reach, complicating evasion. These tentacles, however, are the nearest targets for melee weapon users. Severing them not only yields additional materials but also reduces the monster's reach. Be cautious, though, as these limbs are potent weapons in Nu Udra's arsenal.

Aim for the Mouth

For those wielding ranged weapons, various targets present themselves. The most effective spot to strike is the mouth, which, despite being hard to spot due to Nu Udra's nearly pitch-black skin, has a 4-star weakness. The head is another viable target, though it only has a 3-star weakness to ammunition. Nevertheless, it remains a solid choice for blunt and cutting damage.

Use Watermoss

Nu Udra's affinity for fire in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is evident in its fiery attacks. At certain points, it will even ignite itself, inflicting the Fireblight debuff on close attackers. To counteract this, using Watermoss is highly advisable. This allows you to engage safely without succumbing to the debilitating status ailment.

Wear Fire Resistant Gear

If you find yourself struggling against Nu Udra, equipping gear with fire resistance is essential. The Quematrice armor set, with its Fire Resistance skill, is a top recommendation. Additionally, you can enhance your defense by using decorations like the Fire Res Jewel to mitigate fire damage or the Stream Jewel to boost your water attack, further exploiting Nu Udra's weakness.

Beware of Grab Attacks

Among Nu Udra's array of perilous moves in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, its grab attack stands out as particularly dangerous. If you're too close, the monster might seize you with its tentacles and, after a brief pause, unleash a fiery blast at your face. During this pause, you must swiftly use a knife to free yourself or target its weak spot with a Slinger to escape its grasp.

To capture Nu Udra in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, prepare a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, don't set it immediately. First, weaken the monster by attacking it until it's on the brink of death, indicated by a skull icon next to its boss icon. You can use meat as bait to lure Nu Udra into the trap, or simply position yourself behind the trap while it chases you. Once trapped, quickly administer a Tranquilizer to put it to sleep. You have only about five seconds before it breaks free.
