Marvel Snap Publisher Shift: Developers Announce Change

On January 19th, TikTok's temporary suspension in the US unexpectedly impacted Marvel Snap, the popular card game published by Nuverse (a ByteDance subsidiary). This resulted in a 24-hour outage before the game was restored. However, in-app purchases remain unavailable.

In response, and to mitigate future disruptions stemming from political risks, developers are exploring a publisher change and transitioning some services in-house. This follows a 90-day extension granted to TikTok to sell a 50% stake to a US-based owner; failure to complete this sale could lead to further blockades.

Second Dinner Studios, Marvel Snap's developer, has acknowledged the situation and promised further updates. While many players experienced authorization issues, PC users via Steam remained unaffected. The developers expressed surprise at the event and are actively working to fully restore the game, stating on Platform X: “Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.”

The lack of prior warning caused significant frustration, particularly for players who made in-game purchases before the outage.
