Moonstone, Marvel Snap's newest Ongoing card, copies the effects of your 1-, 2-, and 3-cost Ongoing cards in her lane—a powerful ability akin to an enhanced Mystique. However, building a successful deck around this potent but fragile card (often called "the Glass Cannon of Marvel SNAP") requires careful strategy. After extensive testing, two deck builds stand out: Patriot and Tribunal focused strategies. This guide details both, offering optimization tips and a final assessment of Moonstone's worth.

The Best Deck for Moonstone
Moonstone excels in a supporting role, not as the sole win condition. A reliable strategy pairs her with a Patriot-Ultron deck. Focus on leveraging one or two key Ongoing effects rather than over-relying on Moonstone's ability.
This Moonstone/Patriot/Ultron deck includes: Brood, Mystique, Dazzler, Mockingbird, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Squirrel Girl, Blue Marvel, and Mister Sinister.

Moonstone Deck Synergies
- Set up board buffs using Brood, Sinister, or Squirrel Girl.
- Utilize one lane for Patriot, Mystique, and Moonstone (ideally in that order).
- Deploy Ultron in the final round to maximize buffed locations.
- Iron Man, Blue Marvel, and Mockingbird provide backup power if needed.
An Alternative Deck for Moonstone
For a more exciting, albeit less consistent, approach, pair Moonstone with Onslaught and The Living Tribunal. This strategy uses Moonstone as a primary win condition. Include: Onslaught, Living Tribunal, Mystique, Magik, Psylocke, Sera, Iron Man, Ravonna Renslayer, Captain America, Howard the Duck, and Iron Lad.

Ideal Play:
- Use Psylocke for early Moonstone placement.
- Play Onslaught, Mystique, and Iron Man in her lane.
- Distribute power across lanes using The Living Tribunal in the final round.
Psylocke and Sera provide cost reduction, enabling earlier key card plays. Magik extends the match, allowing Onslaught and The Living Tribunal deployment. Captain America and Iron Lad act as fallback options. While many predicted a Moonstone-Onslaught-Tribunal meta-defining combo, Super Skrull has proven to be a significant counter.
How to Counter Moonstone
Super Skrull effectively counters Moonstone. Since her release, many players have included him in their decks, anticipating Moonstone strategies. Enchantress, Rogue, and Echo also neutralize her.
Moonstone's vulnerability stems from her absorbing abilities within her lane. Without protection (e.g., Invisible Woman), opponents can easily shut down her lane with Enchantress, Echo, or Rogue, or use Super Skrull elsewhere to disrupt the strategy.
Is Moonstone Worth It?
Moonstone is a worthwhile Spotlight Key investment for several reasons: 1) Her ability will gain value as more synergistic Ongoing cards are released; 2) She's in a Spotlight Cache with two other Series Five cards, minimizing unsuccessful pulls; and 3) She offers nostalgic, high-impact combo potential. If you enjoy creating powerful board states, Moonstone is a strong addition.
