Marvel Rivals: PvE Mode Still Unconfirmed, but NetEase Exploring Options
While Marvel Rivals is a relatively new game, player anticipation for significant content additions is high. Recent speculation about a potential PvE boss fight fueled rumors of an upcoming PvE mode. However, NetEase recently clarified that a dedicated PvE mode isn't currently in the works.
During a conversation with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit, the possibility of a PvE mode was directly addressed. Wu stated that, while there are no immediate plans, the development team actively explores new gameplay modes. The addition of a PvE mode would depend on finding a design that's both engaging and fun for players.
Following this statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo inquired about my personal preference for a PvE mode. Wu elaborated, acknowledging player interest in PvE but emphasizing that a robust PvE experience would significantly differ from the current game's core mechanics. The team is experimenting with various approaches, potentially exploring a "lighter" PvE mode, such as a limited-time event, to determine the best fit for the game.
Therefore, while a full-fledged PvE mode remains unconfirmed, NetEase is investigating alternative options. The game continues to receive updates approximately every six weeks, with Human Torch and The Thing joining the roster on February 21st. Separate discussions also covered potential Nintendo Switch 2 support and the topic of intentionally misleading dataminers with false hero data.
