NetEase Games has exciting news for Marvel Rivals enthusiasts: a new hero will be introduced every month and a half as part of the game's evolving seasons. Creative Director Guangyun Chen shared these post-launch plans in an interview with Metro, emphasizing a commitment to delivering a new playable character every half-season, which translates to roughly every six weeks.
"Every season, we'll be rolling out fresh seasonal stories, new maps, and new heroes," Chen explained. "We'll actually be breaking down each season into two halves. The length of one season is three months. And for each half of the season, we will introduce a new hero. We just eventually want to continue to enhance the experience and keep everyone excited in our community."
As each season concludes, fans are left eagerly anticipating the next hero reveal. Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls set the stage with Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second half. These iconic characters have firmly established their legendary status within the Marvel universe, but maintaining this momentum will be an ongoing challenge.
The game launched with a robust roster featuring heroes like Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm, yet there's still a vast array of characters waiting in the wings. Rumors suggest that Blade might make an appearance in Season 2, and fans are clamoring for the inclusion of Daredevil, Deadpool, and other X-Men members. While it's uncertain how NetEase will further expand the Marvel Rivals roster, the game's current success indicates that the team is fully committed to keeping the game fresh and engaging.
In addition to new heroes, Marvel Rivals Season 1 introduced numerous balance changes and gameplay tweaks, with more updates promised for the future.
